Tested & Supported Devices

Ubiquiti Gateway Ultra / Gateway Max

The Ubiquiti UniFi Gateway Pro or UniFi Gateway Max has been tested with WireGuard for tunnel services.  Additionally, we have published a few configuration guides for these devices as well that cover things like NAT, port forwarding, and policy-based routing.

Mikrotik hAP AC

Tested working with both L2TP and GRE.  This is a standard device we supply if you choose to include a router with the service.
Price:  $45-80

Notes:  We suggest an underlying /32 static route toward the IP address of our tunnel server to ensure the overlayed encapsulated L2TP, GRE or WG tunnel traffic is routed reliably.

Limitations:
This device will not accept full BGP tables but a default route would be fine.

Mikrotik hAP AC Lite

Tested working with both L2TP and GRE.  This is a standard device we supply if you choose to include a router with the service.
Price: $49-59

Notes:  We suggest an underlying /32 static route toward the IP address of our tunnel server to ensure the overlayed encapsulated L2TP, GRE or WG tunnel traffic is routed reliably.

Limitations:
Would not accept full BGP tables but a default route would be fine.

Mikrotik hAP AX

Price: $90-130

Notes:  We suggest an underlying /32 static route toward the IP address of our tunnel server to ensure the overlayed encapsulated L2TP, GRE or WG tunnel traffic is routed reliably. Limitations:
Would not accept full BGP tables but a default route would be fine.

Cisco IOS-XE

GRE working and tested.

L2TP is untested but should work without issue.  WireGuard is not supported in Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, or IOS-XR

Notes:  We suggest an underlying /32 static route toward the IP address of our tunnel server to ensure the overlayed encapsulated L2TP, or GRE tunnel traffic is routed reliably.

PFsense

pfSense is tested and working with L2TP.  See our configuration guide HERE.

Other users have indicated they have used WireGuard with pfSense as well.

TP Link HX510

The TP Link HX510 has been tested using L2TP.  We have documented this configuration HERE.

GLiNet

We have tested multiple GL.iNet travel routers, and they have worked well with simple WireGuard tunnel configurations.
